The shortfin mako inhabits offshore temperate and tropical seas worldwide. It can reach a size of 4 m in length and the weight of 570 kg. It is a pelagic species that can be found from the surface to depths of 150 m, normally far from land, and it feeds mainly upon cephalopods and bony fish including mackerels, tunas, bonitos, and swordfish.
