Sigtrygg Runestone DR43D Model
The scan of the Sigtrygg Runestone DR4 (SH 1887-15.1) from the Viking Museum Haithabu was made on 03/13/2024 for inclusion in the Virtual Viking Longship Project. Light gray granite. Inscription running over three sides and the top of the stone. Height circa 1.24 meters (4.07 feet). The stone is dated as being carved after 934 C.E. The runestones were raised after the Danish king Sigtrygg Gnupasson by his mother Ásfriðr. Together with the account of Adam of Bremen, the two inscriptions constitute evidence for the House of Olaf on the Danish throne. Scanning was accomplished with the Creaform Academia 50 handheld 3D scanner and edited in VXelements and VXModel 11 with minor texture map editing and converting done in GIMP.
