Silchester temple site Horse skeleton
Excavated in August 2017 at the Silchester temple excavation, directed by Prof Mike Fulford and Amanda Clarke, this horse skeleton was found compactly buried in a pit, a few metres to the west of the temple, with no obvious stratigraphic relationships or other artefacts. It has no hoofs or lower legs. Its date, ascertained by C14 dating is 16th to 18th Century.
