The Srebrna Góra Fortress is a unique object in the scale of Europe’s cultural heritage and one of the most important attractions of Lower Silesia. Its history dates back to the 18th century. Currently, the Fortress is a unique facility in Europe’s cultural heritage and one of the most important attractions of Lower Silesia. The size of the entire complex allows the facility to be classified as one of the largest mountain defense complexes on our continent. The uniqueness of the facility and its importance was recognized in 2004 by granting the Fortress the status of a Historical Monument. Although it attracts thousands of tourists, some parts of it remain inaccessible - not only to visitors, but also to researchers of this site. Within the fortress, 9 wells with a depth of 50-89 m were drilled in solid gneiss rock. Partially finished with brick and/or sandstone, they constitute exceptionally valuable material for research, including research on old construction techniques
