Pathology description
There is a thick layer of new compact bone, with inflammatory pitting, covering the entire maxillary sinus. There are clusters of irregular spicules of new compact bone overlying the new bone layer especially on the posterior wall and superolaterally.
Co-existent Pathology:
There are rhinomaxillary changes associated with leprosy bilaterally on the oral-nasal surfaces. Although there is taphonomic damage, extensive fine pitting with clustering is located in the anterior portion of the palate. Fine pitting can also be seen along the wall of the nasal cavity, in the nasolacrimal canal, the floor of the orbit, below the infra-orbital foramen, and the posterior alveolar surface.
This individual is edentulous.
