This was another model I made in Maya for one of the 3D modeling classes I took at UW-Whitewater. We were tasked to create a low-poly model of a creature that was a hybrid between two animals. In this case, I chose to cross a scorpion with a cobra. Initially, I used basic Maya materials for this creature, but I soon had them replaced with materials made in Substance Painter to make it look more realistic.
These creatures are about the size of two city buses tied end-to-end, and can reach speeds of up to 35 to 45 miles per hour. When they are not seeing with their eyes while on land, they use echolocation and smell to get around whilst tunneling through the desert sands. They normally feed on large land dwelling creatures such as brontosauruses, avoiding smaller creatures such as humans because they do not provide enough sustenance for their massive bodies. However, they really like spicy foods because even the smallest amount will give them a happy buzz, so don’t eat anything spicy when traveling the desert.
