Situla from Kuffarn (NHMW-PRAE-17.036)

3D Scan of a situla from the late lron Age ca. 400 BC. Situla is the Latin word for bucket or pail. This vessel was found in Kuffarn in the Traisen Valley (Lower Austria) in a grave in 1891 and is the northernmost find of this type. It is striking for its detailed band of images from the life of the Celts some 2.400 years ago.

The Kuffarn Situla is Number 46 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 13 of the NHM Vienna.
