Skeleton - North Atlantic Right Whale3D Model
This 3D interactive model was built using scans of the bones of Glacier a North Atlantic right whale. It is intended to serve as a piece of his legacy, to help in the education and conservation efforts for endangered marine species. The digital files can be used to reconstruct Glacier’s skeleton digitally allowing it to be placed into virtual reality spaces. A team, consisting of Dr. Gordon Price, Dalhousie University, Dr. John Phillips University of Guelph, and VR designer Thoreau Bakker, worked with Fisheries and Oceans Canada to design and build a VR experience of Glacier housed at the Gulf Fisheries Centre in Moncton, NB (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5HPRxwbtMU&feature=youtu.be).
Educational tools will continue to be developed to further promote the conservation story, and highlight the urgent need for continued action and awareness. As part of our partnership with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Ingenium is pleased to host these 3D models alongside other North Atlantic Right Whale content.
