More model informationBaroque representation of a slave on the former cemetery wall in Heiligenkreuz. The statue was made around 1731 by the sculptor Giovanni Giuliani, who worked for Heiligenkreuz Abbey at the time. The slave depiction probably refers to the 2nd Turkish siege (1683), which was not long ago at that time. The victory over the then aggressor was glorified by the staged design of the suffering and subjugated slaves.
