This is a 3D model of the family cat! I took a bunch of pictures of him while he was napping after he had been outside in the rain, and then processed them into a photogrammetry model to see if I fur processed better when it was all wet and spiky and polygonal-looking. (No!, says the photogrammetry software. It processed terribly.) The model was processed from 1613 photos at 3264x2448 taken with an iPhone 5S in burst mode, exhaustively matched and sparse reconstructed with VisualSFm and dense reconstruction in CMVS, and converted with MeshLab at reconstruction depth 7, which is the highest it would go before it completely broke apart (usually it’s about 10-12). But the chair the cat was sleeping it would look better and better all the way up to reconstruction depth 12, even without clean-up, so I learned that textured cloth photogrammetrizes really well, so that’s cool. I also learned that the shutter on my DSLR wakes up my cat, but my phone doesn’t!
