Modern specimen of the cone snail Conus geographus from the coast of Sri Lanka (PRI 54489). This fish-eating snail is one of the deadliest animals on Earth; its sting has caused at least 30 human fatalities. Specimen is from the research collections of the Paleontological Research Institution, Ithaca, New York. Shell length is approximately 11 cm. Model by Emily Hauf.
