Carved boulder on Snook Bank, north of Longframlington, Northumberland.
Snook Bank is an area rich in archaeological remains from prehistory through to fairly modern times when millstones were extracted. This carved boulder is referenced ‘Snook Bank 5d’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA) and was added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. Both archives recorded similar motifs on the stone with well-preserved cups, cups with single rings, grooves and a sub-rectangular enclosing groove. Peck marks are present in many of the motifs, suggesting the stone has been covered for long periods.
