“By applying abstraction, I make soft sculptures that absorb the tradition of medical illustrations into a dreamscape of memory. This is a meditative act for myself and allows me to express and reflect on the pain bias in the medical system and my own struggles with chronic conditions.

My sculptures are based in formal association which open a unique poetic vein. Multilayered images arise in which the fragility and instability of the piece allows for questioning of memory and pain. Due to the contestation of my own experiences between the realms of memory and the realms of experience, I wish to develop forms which force the viewers subjective association to form parallels and not follow logical criteria.

By working with personal soft mediums such as used hosiery and batting collected from old well-loved toys, I look to elevate the mundane with feelings of nostalgia. I aim for my work to leave a final impression of a delicacy destined for collapse, much akin to the fragility of memory.”
