Solid Silver Two-Piece Epergne3D Model
This solid silver two-piece epergne was presented to King Kalakaua and Queen Kapiolani on Februrary 12, 1883, their coronation date, from John C. Pfleuger, the Hawaiian Consul General to Germany. Pfleuger inherited this from his grandmother, Princess Abigail Kawananakoa.
This artifact is significant to Hawaiian history because it represents cultures uniting. It represents Hawaii reaching out to other countries for inspiration. The artifact also represents the preserving of Hawaiian culture and serves as a reminder of the past.
It currently resides at Iolani Palace and is viewable to the public.
The Friends of Iolani Palace work to preserve, restore, interpret, share and celebrate the unique cultural, historical and spiritual qualities of Iolani Palace and its grounds for the benefit of Native Hawaiians, the people of Hawaii and the world.
