More model informationThe historical ruins on the Island of Songo Mnara, near Kilwa, in Tanzania is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ruins are the remnants of a once-powerful Swahili settlement that consisted of Palaces, Mosques, a Mnara and other buildings. The buildings were all constructed from coral blocks that were cut from the coastline giving the ruins an underwater atmosphere.
The Zamani Project team documented the site in 2011 while camping on the island with a team of archaeologists. Large amounts of vegetation had to be cleared from the site before laser scanning could take place
