The TV series “Space 1999” describes the adventures in space of the inhabitants of the lunar base Alpha once the Moon left its orbit around the Earth and initiated its journey into the deep space. The lunar colony will meet new civilizations and planets. The series was influenced by the vigorous exploration of the space that started in the ’60s culminating with the Apollo moon landings in the years 1969-1972. While we do not have yet a colony on the Moon we still work on experiments aboard the International Space Station to learn how humans can survive on planets different from Earth or in zero gravity while traveling in space. I used a picture of the Moon’s crater Plato to obtain a displaced surface in Blender 2.82a. Then I added the Moon base Alpha from a kmz model I found here http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=804561&filename=Alpha%20Moon%20Base.kmz (many thanks to the author) and converted in gltf/glb format to import it in Blender.
