Tests for swap based animation in sketchfab. Stepped animation doesn’t seem to work, either ‘cuz of FBX or Sketchfab, causing jumps of interpolation to happen. Ran into the same issue when I did my audio test a while back.
1
Slightly scaled to get out of the way. No visible shrink, but can get z-fighting if it’s not scaled out enough. Scale out too much and you get obvious rings around the edge, showing the trick.
2
Shrinking to near zero over a frame. Hides the swap pretty well. There’s still tweening over a frame but it’s tough to detect. Near zero because of FBX limitations that make it get confused when actual 0 scale is used.
3
Movement based swapping over a frame. The interpolation makes it so stepped animation can’t be used. Could possibly work if the target location was far enough away. Hideaway locations are white to match the background color. You could also hide the swap by placing the ball on a platform so when it ducks under the interpolation is out of view.
