More model information

Unglazed ceramic, 141 x 139mm, Northern Iran / Afghanistan, 12th century.

This pot, from the Bumiller Collection is made of two parts. The lower part is handmade and the upper part turned on a potter’s wheel. The object is decorated with stamped pentagonal cartouches and round medallions. One of the round medallions shows a crowned head framed by an illegible inscription. The remaining medallions show various animal depictions, such as lions and birds.

The model was created using structured light scanning and photogrammetry by students on the University of Bamberg’s Digital Denkmaltechnologie (Digital Technologies in Heritage Conservation) Masters programme during their 2019 practical week.

Geometry was acquired with an Artec Spider scanner, and the textures via photogrammetry/SfM. Artec Studio & Agisoft Metashape were used to process the data.
