More model informationI’ve always loved The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, and wanted to take a shot at making a realistic version of the train. The original concept art for the engine was drawn by Tom Colleti, a friend and fellow artist. I freelanced the cannon, passenger car and gondola designs myself, with Tom assisting in brainstorming some ideas for inspiration. I made the tracks resemble the strangely colored teal & gold tracks found in the video game- one of the many easter eggs and nods to it.
The cannon takes influences from 19th century theodolites and telescopes, while the passenger car and gondola are based on once-existing prototypes found on the Denver & Rio Grande Railway.
