SRP6775 Cranium Superficial Trauma 3D Model
The individual SRP98 6775 is a female with an age category of 26 - 35 years old, from Period 14, dating 1100AD - 1200AD. From macroscopic analysis of the skeletal elements present, she suffered from multiple healed trauma not only in her cranium but also in her arm bones and left hand. Considering the time period in which she lived, the fact she has healed so well and survived is very interesting. It is also interesting to consider the impact of the injuries on her life and any potential impairment. The skeletal remains of this female were found during excavations of Spitalfields market (1991 - 2007) which revealed the remains of over 10,500 individuals excavated in 1999 -2002, from the medieval period on the site of St Mary Spital. An Augustinian priory & hospital founded in the 12th century, with the hospital becoming one of the largest in Europe. Over 5,000 individuals were analysed & a comprehensive publication was produced providing detailed information by Museum of London Archaeology, Monograph 60.
