On the 12th December 1917 when 30 miles West from the Smalls, Wales she was captured by German submarine UB-65 and sunk by bombs when on route from Cardiff for Berehaven with a cargo of coal. Two gunners taken as prisoners. Wreck is located around 60km south of Carnsore Point and measures 85m x 13m at a depth of 71m.
