St John the Baptist RC church, Rochdale, Lo-res3D Model
The magnificent mosaics in the Roman Catholic church of St John the Baptist, Rochdale were designed and installed by leading mosaic designer Eric Newton. Work started in 1932 and took a year to complete. To either side of a central design of Christ the King, St John is shown baptising Christ and awaiting his own beheading. Also depicted are Noah’s Ark, the Resurrection of the Dead, the Papal coat of arms of Pope Pius XI and the coat of arms of Thomas Henshaw, fifth Bishop of Salford. This 3D model has been compiled by Historic England to help efforts to conserve the mosaics as part of a wider programme of works to repair and celebrate the history of this landmark grade II* listed building.
This version of the model has a lower resolution texture.
