St. John Anglican Cathedral, Belize City Belize, Central America The oldest Anglican church in Central America, built in the early 1800s using bricks brought from England that had been used as ballast aboard ships. The structure was designed by English Architect George Christopher Wray. The cathedral has been damaged by hurricanes and fires several times over the years, but it has always been rebuilt. This cathedral is a beautiful example of colonial architecture and is a valuable part of Belize’s cultural heritage. This historical landmark has become a popular tourist destination and is still in use today for regular services and events.
