St Wite, Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset 3D Model
This contemporary statue of St Wite (Witta) is set high upon the exterior of St Candida Church, Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset (England). Her origins are unknown and she may have been an Anglo-Saxon, Welsh or Breton saint (she is known as Candida or Blanche in Brittany). Wite is one of two saints (the other being Edward the Confessor) whose shrines survived the English Reformation intact. Her 13th-century shrine is located in the north transept of the church. In the 16th-century it was the local custom of offering the saint cakes and ale on her feast-day.
Zoom photos from a Panasonic FZ200 were processed in the free version of 3DF Zephyr. Model released on St Candida’s feast day, 1st June 2017.
