This is a high-resolution Digital Outcrop Model of the Strathdon MAHLI target in the Glen Torridon clay-bearing unit of Gale crater, Mars. This model is made using 15 photos taken by the MAHLI instrument, a microscope mounted on the robotic arm of the rover Curiosity.
These images were taken on sol 2444, in June 2019, and are available on the JPL MSL Raw images archive.
This finely laminated sandstone bed shows multiple cross-stratifications propagating in different direction taht advocates for a very dynamic hydrological system. Some of these cross-beds are cross-cut by fractures filled with calcium sulfate (~gypsum).
