Stalagnate within Vrlovka cave (Highest LOD)3D Model
Cross-section of the Vrlovka Cave processed with the highest possible level of detail (LOD). Due to algorithm and processing challenges, the entire 3D model of Vrlovka Cave can’t be processed at the highest possible LOD. Therefore, this small segment was processed at such LOD to demonstrate the possibilities of highly detailed cave 3D modeling with GeoSLAM technology.
This cross-sections shows a massive cave column, also known as a stalagnate. It is formed by gradual sedimentation of dissolved calcium carbonate (CaCO3), which typically forms when a stalactite (a mineral deposit hanging from the ceiling of a cave) and a stalagmite (a mineral deposit rising from the floor of a cave) grow towards each other and eventually meet, creating a column-like structure.
