Non-Canon History: The Stalker Class Star Destroyer was commissioned near the end of the Galactic Civil War as an interceptor vessel to seek out Rebel cells. Originally intended to carry a small squadron of Tie-Scouts, the first run of vessels were still incomplete by the time the Empire fell. The unfinished prototypes were sold by a corrupt Grand Moff to a variety of organizations including the Pyke Syndicate. Given that they lacked the primary systems, they were often heavily customized by their new owners.
