This model show the evolution of the gas evaporating from a hot Jupiter while orbiting around its parent star. The motion is followed in a reference frame co-moving with the planet (enshrouded in the cloud of gas) The simulation was made with the MHD code PLUTO (Mignone et al., 2007) It required about 55 hours of computation on a 640 CPU cluster. The manipulation of the datacubes for each time step was done with a combination of IDL and Paraview software. With Paraview I reduced the complexity of each mesh using a quadric clustering filter, then exported them in .obj files for each frame. References:
