The statue was made from a single marble piece and represents a fantastic animal, with the body of a serpent, the muzzle of a mammal, with fixed eyes like a dog, with human ears and hair and with the tail ending in a tuft of hair like a lion. Glykon serpent was a deity protecting home and family, of Micro-Asian origin. The statue is a unique piece in the world. The piece was discovered in Constanta in 1962. The relief dated from the end of the 2nd century - the beginning of the 3rd century A.D.
