More model informationNow on display in the Commendator’s House Museum in Melrose, this statue of the Virgin and Child was originally built into a recess on one of the west buttress of Melrose Abbey, Scottish Borders. It dates back to the 1200s.
The Virgin is defaced but her finely carved crown, veil and robes remain. The headless Child is held on her left arm and a flower is held in her right hand.
