On November 9, 2015 during a high-level meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and top defense officials television news cameras caught a glimpse of a slide showing a proposed nuclear powered underwater unmanned vehicle (UUV). Known on the slide as “Ocean Multipurpose System Status-6,” the UUV is designed to infiltrate a port city and detonate a high-yield nuclear warhead specially treated to maximize the amount and persistence of the radioactive fallout, rendering the area uninhabitable for years.
