On January 24, 1960, two young couples were driving home from a dance. They were taking Highway 101 along the edge of Lake Crescent. The driver took a corner too quickly, and the car slid off the road into the icy cold water of Lake Crescent. The sharp turn that had previously claimed the Warren car claimed a second vehicle. However, this accident was not tragic. All four occupants of this car escaped and swam to safety. The car was relocated in 2004, and a suitcase was recovered from the trunk and returned to its owner, Beverly Sherman who was living in Lakewood, WA.
