Stegosaurus is a well-known genus of dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, approximately 155 to 150 million years ago. Characterized by its distinctive double row of large, bony plates along its back and spiked tail, Stegosaurus was an herbivorous dinosaur that reached lengths of up to 9 meters. Its unique body structure and relatively small head compared to its size made it one of the most recognisable dinosaurs. Stegosaurus likely inhabited forested areas and fed on low-lying plants, using its plates for thermoregulation and display. Fossils of Stegosaurus have provided important insights into dinosaur behaviour, anatomy, and the ecosystems of the Jurassic period.
