Stela A North Side part 2, Quirigua, Guatemala3D Model
A modern plaster cast of the middle part of the north side of Stela A. There is no inscription on this side of the stela. What is depicted on this side is the jaguar, god of the underworld, who is mentioned on the west side, erecting the stela in a distant past or mythological time. In this middle section the jaguar can be seen holding a ceremonial bar with plants coming out from it. This is the depiction of ancestors through natural elements, in this case plants.
Original: Classic Maya, c. AD 250-900.
