The central scene on this stele shows a buddha and two bodhi-sattvas inside a shallow niche. Below, in three horizontal registers, are twenty-four niches containing small buddhas carved in low relief. Above, five buddhas flanked by two disciples form another row. The back and right sides are plain, but the left side displays six more buddhas arranged in pairs vertically. Steles such as this were frequently ordered by several families as a collective act of piety.
