Buddhist votive stele with Buddha and two Bodhisattvas, 678 CE, now in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

“This stone stele depicts the Buddha sitting on a lotus throne, flanked by a pair of bodhisattvas. His left hand is raised in abhaya mudra (gesture of dispelling fear), and the right is resting on his knee.”

These models were scanned and produced with a research process that captures surface texture and specularity more accurately. The research is led by Michael Tetzlaff from UW-Stout and is supported by a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, with Mia and Cultural Heritage Imaging as participating institutions.
