Right next to the western wall of the Propylaea is the Stoa of the Naxians, a monument constructed about the end of the 6th century BCE, completing the ambitious building project of Archaic Naxos at the Sanctuary of Apollo, which resulted in this area of the Sanctuary becoming a Naxian “quarter” (Oikos of the Naxians, Colossus of the Naxians, Propylaea, Stoa of the Naxians). It is a L-shaped stoa, with the length of the south wing being close to 27 meters and of the west wing 45 meters. This building is simple but at the same time elaborate and technically ambitious, since, after the Oikos of the Naxians, the marble roof, from which support parts are preserved, was also adopted here. The Stoa of the Naxians was the enclosure of the Sanctuary to the southwest and also provided a gathering place protected from the weather.
