Stone Wristguard
2250 -1950 BCE
Found near Aston on Trent, Derbyshire
This polished stone wristguard was found with a Beaker pot and a barb and tang arrowhead in Aston on Trent Derbyshire. It was probably buried in someones grave, but due to the acidic soil no human remains had survived.
Stone wrist guards like this were once thought to be part of an archer’s equipment. Recent research suggests they may have been more symbolic, a sign of identity or status rather than proof that the person was an archer in life.
