In the graveyard of Strade abbey there is a cross inscribed stone facing east. A skull momento mori, sits above, and at some stage the carvings ahve been used to create a stickman figure. Local traditons have built up around this stone. The grave is reputed to be the burial place of the bardic poet Tadhg Dall Ó hUiginn who met a gruesome end in c.1591
