More model informationStrangways Springs in remote outback Australia was a pastoral property established in the mid nineteenth century. In 1872 it became one of eleven repeater stations on Australia’s Overland Telegraph Line and in 1885 became a stop on the Great Northern Railway. After relocation of the telegraph sattion to nearby William Creek the buildings gradually fell into disrepair. The importance of water in this arid landscape is demonstrated by the elaborately constructed buttressed water tank, which has outlasted the main building.
