More model informationThis is a high-resolution Digital Outcrop Model of the Strathdon MAHLI target at the Harlaw rise outcrop in the Glen Torridon clay-bearing unit of Gale crater, Mars.
This model is made using 18 photos taken by the MAHLI instrument, a microscope mounted on the robotic arm of the rover Curiosity. These images were taken on sol 2462, in July 2019, and are available on the JPL MSL Raw images archive.
This sandstone bed features very interesting sub-cm-scale undulating laminations, indicating the presence of sustained hydrodynamism during the deposition of these sediments by a river flow.
Model by Gwénaël Caravaca of LPG Nantes (UMR 6112 CNRS).
