Gastropod (Strombus coronatus) in the DISTAV palaeontology collection (University of Genova) Strombus coronatus is a gastropod mollusk exhibiting herbivorous feeding habits. It serves as an indicator of the warm, tropical marine environments, such as the Mediterranean Sea, during the Pliocene. It became extinct during the Piacenzian stage of the Pliocene, likely due to a significant cooling of sea temperatures. The 3D model of this species is based on a specimen discovered in the Pliocene strata of Genova, Liguria, Italy.
