More model informationThe “Van Helmont Sample” is a collection of digital and traditional graphics, as well as procedural graphics, all set in a virtual world that resembles an empty attic. This combination imitates the process of self-generation, where the remnants left within the system serve as the building blocks for new activities. The installation alludes to the various components of a naive experiment from the Renaissance, which supposedly led to the creation of a mouse. To validate the prevalent theory of self-generation at that time, the experiment required a closet, an old shirt, and a handful of grain.
