Sutton Hoo Ship: Minimum Reconstruction Model3D Model
This 3D model is derived from a minimum reconstruction drawing developed by Pat Tanner at the University of Southampton. This model was made by entering the rivet location data from the 1939 excavation illustration into the modern digital application, Rhino 3D. The data was then manipulated to insert missing data and to provide fair plank runs. The internal layout of the ship could then be derived from this combination of illustration and 3D modelling.
The burial ship is being reconstructed in The Longshed, Woodbridge, Suffolk, UK and is viewable by the public when work is taking place.
