Deep within the County of Canterbury lies an unnaturally deep lake, wherein rests a mystical being known only as the Lady of the Lake, with a mystical weapon in her possession which she only gifts to those who truly require such a powerful tool.

The Sword of the Lake was first gifted to the bodyguard of the woman who would become the first Queen of Canterbury, and he was tasked to use the sword to defend her and the nation she would one day rule, and to return the sword to the lake on the eve of his death.

Since then, nearly two thousand years ago, the Lady of the Lake has only gifted her sword a handful of times, the most recent being over three hundred years ago to defend Canterbury from the violence spilling over their northern border.
