A 12th century Syriac manuscript with an early 17th c. binding from the collection of the Chapin Library, Williams College (Williams MS 0037). On page 196, the second column at the end, is the following written in the Arabic language: “Qais Sarkis, son of Serabion, of Sert, renewed this blessed book, which is the new book [i.e. the New Testament] at the door of the church of the Lady within Sert. And may everyone who reads in it call on Him and His mother for the forgiveness of sin. Merru, the deputy, son of ‘Abdul-Aziz, of the House of Kirro, he it was who took pains in the matter, and that in the year 1944 [C.E. 1632-33] of the Grecian period.” – Noted by A.N.
