This model of a tabby structure was constructed by master craftsman Rick Wightman for Parker Annex Archaeology Center in September 2019. Tabby was the concrete of 18th century coastal Carolina. Making tabby is nearly a lost art but is kept alive through Rick Wightman’s work. This tabby structure represents the architectural footprint of an enslaved person’s dwelling and has a variety of artifacts embedded in the tabby.
