大刀形埴輪（鹿狩り）

上が大刀の握る部分（柄　つか）で、下部は鞘に刀がはいった形を表しています。この埴輪の珍しいところは鞘の両脇がひれ状に広がり、中央に鹿とそれに向かう矢が線刻で表されていることです。大刀と鹿狩りの組み合わせにはどのような意味があったのでしょうか。

“Tachi” means long sword.
