In July 2018, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defensebudgeted money to buy 108 M1A2Ts from the U.S. to replace its aging CM-11 Brave Tiger and M60A3 TTS tanks.The U.S. Department of Stateapproved the $2.2 billion sale in July 2019.A sale of 108 M1A2Ts was later finalized.The first two were delivered to Taiwan in June 2022, with an additional 38 delivered in December 2024.
