Takalik Abaj Stela 5Your model is disabled. For more details go to Edit properties3D Model
The original Stela 5 at Takalik Abaj has been removed from its in situ location with a replica now in its place to aid in long term preservation. Our team, led by Travis Doering and Lori Collins, documented the piece in 2006 and again in 2010, pre and post removal using laser scanning, GPS, and specialized imaging techniques.
The stela contains iconography and inscription on the front and sides. The front has been previously described as containing two central Long Count dates that are flanked by standing figures/rulers. The side panels include areas that are highly eroded with glyphic inscription, and with a seated figure depicted on a throne.
